Sacred Heart School Foundation
JAT-Surv are proud to support the Sacred Heart School Foundation. The school is located in the small Indian village of Pokhriabong in the foothills of the Himalayas, sandwiched between Nepal and Bhutan. Only a stone throw from the famous tea region of Darjeeling, the beauty of the surrounding mountains is breath-taking.
Over the past 11 years we have supported Sacred Heart’s growth from a small community school to becoming one of the most sought-after educational establishments in the West Bengal region of India. Welcoming students from the age of 3 through to 18, Sacred Heart is now the only school in the area that has earned the right to administer public examinations on site.
We have had the privilege of seeing some of the young people we have supported grow up and move on to complete university courses and become successful graduates in the Sciences and the Humanities. Others have chosen different paths, taking on a family business in the village, utilising their skills to bring a new and exciting future to their community.
The physical growth of the school and its associated buildings has been impressive over the last 11 years, and although their take on construction techniques and view on health and safety often differ from our own, we have both learnt a lot from each other.
